This petition is directed towards parents who are seeking a way to protect their kids from the violence that is shown on T.V. in video games, and music. The person that should be contacted about this petition would be the head of the FCC, chairman Julius Genachowski, who approves and disapproves the regulation of interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories. Media violence has increased in size and has also become a lot more graphic, sexual and disturbing in nature.  A lot of children are exposed to different types of violence through television, movies, music, and the internet.  The internet cannot be easily regulated as it is the main source of information for many adults and children alike.  The U.S. government has taken several steps to keep violent content on the internet away from children, but has not taken steps to clean it out from all sources of entertainment completely.  The government’s action was focused at regulating internet violence hasn't been concentrated on the actions taken to restrict broadcasting.  Since it is the government that gives the broadcasters their rights and broadcast licenses, the broadcasters have no option but to agree with government restrictions.  Television and radio are also subject to government regulations, whereas the internet is free from government regulations. Violence in the media affects everyone in society. People who witness violence on T.V., in a videogame, or in a music video, gets desensitized to violence. People should care about regulating the violence in the media more because it could have positive effects. A positive effect being kids not getting so much exposure to so much violence. There is a wide spread opinion amongst the public that violent content in television programs and the internet  creates a negative impact upon children. Parents should be more strict when it comes to what videogames they play, T.V. shows they watch, and music they listen to. They should also not be allowed to buy matured rated material for their children. If children watch television less, and watch it less randomly, they will see a lot less violence. This can be achieved by setting down time limits on how much children watch, and by setting guidelines on what they watch. Children are exposed to so much violence these days, it would be better for them if weren't exposed to all of this violence.
